TRIFELSRUHE can be reached by bus now

As of now, the natural burial ground of “Trifelsruhe“ in Annweiler am Trifels can be reached by public bus (bus number 527). „I am particularly pleased that is has been possible to integrate “Trifelsruhe“ into the new bus concept of the administrative district of Südliche Weinstraße“, commented Annweiler’s Town Mayor Thomas Wollenweber.  In the past, many visitors of “Trifelsruhe“ from near and far repeatedly asked for a bus line. It is of particular importance for people with limited mobility, who can reach Trifelsruhe more easily now. Many visitors use “Trifelsruhe” as a nearby recreational area, while others regularly visit their deceased relatives or friends „We were able to consider these wishes when retendering the Queichtal bus networks “, expressed District Administrator Theresia Riedmaier. Since June 10, 2012 the new bus operator, Queichtal Nahverkehrsgesellschaft takes you to “Trifelsruhe” as well as to Trifels Castle.  „Hence, we are making a valuable social and cultural contribution”, added Riedmaier. „This is a brilliant success. Special thanks go to District Administrator Theresia Riedmaier and the responsible staff of the District Administration”, said Harald Düx, head of „Trifelsruhe“ and managing director of “Trifels Natur GmbH”.   The new blue-white buses used on this line have low entrances and air-conditioning, thus offering passengers modern convenience. The new bus number 527 circulates from Annweiler railway station, via “Trifelsruhe” and “Klettererhütte” to Trifels Castle and return.  It connects the city centre of Annweiler with “Trifelsruhe”, the natural burial ground, and Trifels Castle twice on working days and every two hours at the weekend. In December, bus number 527 does not run as the castle is closed, too. Usually, a minibus operates on this route on working days.
